Public hearings

The Year of the Dog is a busy year. Immediately after the Chinese New Year break, the LegCo Panel on Information Technology and Broadcasting will hold public hearings on the new strategy for eGovernment services delivery, public service broadcasting and, the legislative proposal on regulating unsolicited electronic messages.

New S for CIT

Mr Joseph Wong Wing-ping was appointed as Secretary for Commerce, Industry and Technology on 24 Jan.

The former S for CIT, Mr John Tsang Chun-wah, was appointed as Director of the Chief Executive's Office.

Review on Digital 21 Strategy

The Digital 21 Strategy Advisory Committee reviewed the progress made under Digital 21 2004 Strategy and discussed the targets and actions plans for the coming year at its meeting held on 20 Jan. The government will report the progress in the coming ITB Panel meeting on 13 Feb 2006.

The Government had already commenced preparatory work for the next round of Digital 21 Strategy review. The OGCIO will initiate discussions with them in the first quarter of 2006, with a view to coming up with a draft document for public consultation in late 2006.
